About me
Michael Murnan Smith
My parents gave me my first camera in 1968, when I was 13 years old. It was a Kodak Instamatic. Before I created my first photograph (of my cat) I read everything about photography I could find. Film was expensive and I didn't want to waste a single frame. Well, since then, I have wasted more frames than I care to admit. But, among the thousands of photographs I have taken, I have also created many beautiful images. I have also discovered, along the way, that I absolutely love photography. I love the challenge of creating art where it appears there is nothing, or capturing just the right moment and preserving it forever, or just taking a picture that makes people say "WOW!"
I am based in Waukesha, Wisconsin. My award-winning photographs have appeared in publications such as WIND TRACKS MAGAZINE, THE CAPITAL TIMES and FRANK LLOYD WRIGHT'S MONONA TERRACE: the ENDURING POWER of a CIVIC VISION.
